After 350 entries, 1,525 comments posted and 1,084 recieved I've decided to give up on this journal. I need to move onto something new and better in the realm of online journaling.
On top of that I've gone by the moniker "Flipbook" for too long. I can't stand to look at it anymore. The story behind that name is extremely stupid and I don't claim it as my own anymore. If you still want to read what I have to say, ask and I will tell.

Do you Indigo?

Indigo Adult Characteristics

* Are intelligent, though may not have had top grades.

* Are very creative and enjoy making things.

* Always need to know WHY, especially why they are being asked to do something.

* Had disgust and perhaps loathing for much of the required and repetitious work in school.

* Were rebellious in school in that they refused to do homework and rejected authority of teachers, OR seriously wanted to rebel, but didn't DARE, usually due to parental pressure.

* May have experienced early existential depression and feelings of helplessness. These may have ranged from sadness to utter despair. Suicidal feelings while still in high school or younger are not uncommon in the Indigo Adult.

* Have difficulty in service-oriented jobs. Indigos resist authority and caste system of employment.

* Prefer leadership positions or working alone to team positions.

* Have deep empathy for others, yet an intolerance of stupidity.

* May be extremely emotionally sensitive including crying at the drop of a hat (no shielding) Or may be the opposite and show no expression of emotion (full shielding).

* May have trouble with RAGE.

* Have trouble with systems they consider broken or ineffective, ie. political, educational, medical, and legal.

* Alienation from or anger with politics - feeling your voice won't count and/or that the outcome really doesn't mattter.

* Frustration with or rejection of the traditional American dream - 9-5 career, marriage, 2.5 children, house with white picket fence, etc.

* Anger at rights being taken away, fear and/or fury at "Big Brother watching you."

* Have a burning desire to do something to change and improve the world. May be stymied what to do. May have trouble identifying their path.

* Have psychic or spiritual interest appear fairly young - in or before teen years.

* Had few if any Indigo role models. Having had some doesn't mean you're not an indigo, though.

* Have strong intuition.

* Random behavior pattern or mind style - (symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder). May have trouble focusing on assigned tasks, may jump around in conversations.

* Have had psychic experiences, such as premonitions, seeing angels or ghosts, out of body experiences, hearing voices.

* May be electrically sensitive such as watches not working and street lights going out as you move under them, electrical equipment malfunctioning and lights blowing out.

* May have awareness of other dimensions and parallel realities.

* Sexually are very expressive and inventive OR may reject sexuality in boredom or with intention of achieving higher spiritual connection. May explore alternative types of sexuality.

* Seek meaning to their life and understanding about the world May seek this through religion or spirituality, spiritual groups and books, self-help groups and books.

* When they find balance they may become very strong, healthy, happy individuals.

As the days have passed by me, in what seems like hours, I have come to the firm conclusion I want to be a writer. Maybe it is from the immense inspiration I have had in regards to my poetry. In a span of five days I have written more then a dozen poems, most are drivel, but the important thing is my mind is working creatively again.

This wave of motivation may be from working on the show; getting back up on stage has gotten my "juices flowing" as they say. I'm not entirely sure who "they are" but that is what they say.

But as I reach into my thoughts to attempt to retrieve the source of my creative outburst, I continually come to one final conclusion. John Rose. When I think of how he told me I could be a writer, I was honestly shocked. I can't remember a time when someone has given me such a compliment in my life.
I can count the number of times my father has told me that he is proud of me on one hand, and I can never remember anyone expressing to me such praise.

I am going to do it. I don't know how, and I don't really care. I want to write for a living. And that is what I am going to do.

But as I kept generating the page, I realized that the interests on my list were not accurate anymore. Things that I don't want to do anymore. Things that I don't like anymore. And if I was still into the interest in question, I didn't like that I still had it listed. So needless to say I have gone from 150 interests to under 50. And that makes me happy.

The Merits of Rap/Hip Hop

<lj:music>War of the Worlds (The Radio Show)</lj:music>

"I met a critic
I made her shit her draws
She said she tought Hip Hop was only guns and alcohol
I said "Oh hell naw!" but yet it's that too
You can't discrimahate because you done read a book or 2"

Outkast - Humble Mumble

As I read every application for this community, the attitudes of the members really gets to me. Specfically in reagards to Rap and Hip Hop. I am huge fan of Rap and Hip Hop, and seems that a good portion of this community is willing to look past Top 40 radio to find good Punk, Metal, Soul, Nu-Metal, and other Rock based forms of music.

But when it comes to listening to Rap and Hip Hop, all they can get is that Rap is full of idiots who only care about Guns, Bitches and 40s.

This disapoints me to no end. The opening stanza of this entry is from Outkast, as you very well can see, I feel this line descripes Hip Hop to a tee. Yes, there is a certain aspect to the music that is about Guns, Bitches and 40s, but there is so much more then that. Take a look at this lines if you will.

"Don't push
Me to close to
The Edge, I'm
Trying not lose
My head.
Sometimes it makes
Me wonder
What keeps me from going under." Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five Featuring Mel E. Mel - The Jungle

"You can't be passive, gotta be active
Can't go with what looks attractive
Gotta learn all I can while I'm able
Headliner expresses his feeling on those turntables
When we get our chance
to make a good living of the music we program
We don't sell out just to be sold out
Brothers and sisters, do you know what I'm yapping about ?
Coz if they take away our contract
we still got talent and we still got contacts
Coz we're worked real hard to get this far
We're catching the bus before we bought the car
Ya see !" Arrested Development - Give a Man a Fish

"Grab the hook, grab the line
Grab the bait, grab the box and wait
Tackle and shackle the topic the faculty has chosen
Chosen by many, chosen by plenty, chosen by any
man or woman who understand
the topic that's known and
[Go by the dock] flock and clock the topic
as I drop my hook and get a bite
The reason I'm fishin' 4 a new religion
is my church makes me fall asleep
They're praising a God that watches you weep
and doesn't want you to do a damn thing about it
When they want change the preacher says "shout it"
Does shouting bring about change ? I doubt it
All shouting does is make you lose your voice
So on the dock I sit in silence
staring at a sea that's full of violence
Scared to put my line in that water
coz it seems like there's no religion in there
Naively so I give it another go
Sitting in church hearing legitimate woes
Pastor tells the lady it'll be alright
Just pray so you can see the pearly gates so white
The lady prays and prays and prays and prays
and prays and prays and prays and prays...it's everlasting
"There's nothing wrong with praying ?" It's what she's asking
She's asking the Lord to let her cope
so one day she can see the golden ropes
What you pray for God will give
to be able to cope in this world we live
The word "cope" and the word "change"
is directly opposite, not the same
She should have been praying to change her woes
but pastor said "Pray to cope with those"
The government is happy with most baptist churches
coz they don't do a damn thing to try to nurture
brothers and sisters on a revolution
Baptist teaches dying is the only solution
Passiveness causes others to pass us by
I throw my line till I've made my decision
until then, I'm still fishin' 4 religion"

50 Cent, Eminem, Jay Z and all the others out there on Top 40 radio, making money talking about bitches and 40s, do not repesent Hip Hop at all. I recomend these artists.

Mos Def
Run-DMC
Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five
Public Enmey
Common
Talib Kewli
Arrested Delvopment

And if you are interested at all in seeing where the Bitches and Hoe's thing comes from, I highly recommend
N.W.A and Ice T. The fore-fathers of Gangsta Raps

    <lj:music>Dave Matthews Band - I Did It</lj:music>

So I guess since I have a realiable, constant access to internet, I might as well actually update.

I am currently attending school in southeastern Vermont. I am attending Landmark College

The school is the only school of it's kind in the world, it is a two year school solely for students with learning disablities. I am one of 420 students, all of us with learning disabities. Imagine that if you will, 420 AD/HD kids, all one campus. Scary isn't it?

My schedule is full of all none credit course, but that's ok. I am taking a 20th Century History Course, which is really cool. A course on the writing and giving of speeches. An Intro to Reading and Study Skills which I hate.

My last class (which is really my second of the day, but who really cares) is insane. On my first day with this class, I walk into the room and on the board there is a message that says
"Meet me by the tennis courts, by the light gray van in five minutes"

Our professor, John Rose, who looks like Hugh Jackman circa X-Men, is standing there and he recites what is written on the board. Now the only way I can describe this man's speaking voice, for those of you who will understand what this means, is that Marcus looks worse then Ben when compared to this man.

As we all walk to the van he tells us to get in. We all get in and he proceeds to drive us to Basketville, a store in Putney (the town where my school is). He asks for four volunteers, and they get out of the van, he hands them each a piece of paper and gives them a little schpeal. He then drives us to the Putney General Store, where I get out. Standing outside of the store, he gives us the same piece of paper and tells us to enter the store, as discretly as possible, pick someone out, and follow them. We are to answer the questions on the piece of paper. He also tells that if we get caught and are in trouble he will take the blame. The past two days have been spent watching The Atomic Cafe

How fucking cool is that? Screw dealing with the syllabus, screw going over the structure and purpose the class. He's creative. I think I'm the only one in the whole class who got any of it.

Putney's pretty cool. We're two hours away from Burlington and Boston. We're four hours for New York City and pretty damn close to Marlboro. Simon's Rock isn't too far either, but I don't know how far.

Before I leave, I will you give these words of wisdom. "Be Good, And If You Can't, Be Good At It.:

Top Five Records Of All Time.
The albums on this list have to fit three criteria.
A) The album on a whole, does it flow well. If it is a choppy album, is it intentinally choppy.
B) Indvidual songs, can all of the songs stand on their own. If I were to skip to a random track, would I be satisfied.
C) Finally, is it a good ablum for both straight up listening to and also as background music. Can I through the record on at a party or discussion and not have it be overpowering.
In my most humble opinion, these five albums meet my criteria.

In No Particular Order:
1) Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker
2) Dropkick Murpheys - Do Or Die
3) Metallica - ...And Justice for All
4) The Doors - Strange Days
5) Weezer - Pinkerton

Emily. Oh where do I begin.

I met Emily when Davi asked me to cover for him at a forum at the Unitarian Universaslit Church Of Arlington.
My first reaction to meeting her was: "Wow, she's attractive".

I got to know her better when I joined the youth group at UUCA.

We've been friends for three years now and I don't see us ever having a(nother) fallout.

We've had our ups and downs but she rocks>

Emily goes to Oberlin College.
She sings.
She acts.
And she is awesome
